Katherine Gorge and a long drive south

After a VERY loud meal in a Darwin nightclub and a night in the 'Youth Shack', which had the added interest of a fire alarm at 2.30am - at least it was warm outside! We set off for our first long days driving with our new guide Audia. We also said farewell to Team Denmark a lovely family of 4.

This is Audia and our new bus - a bit more comfortable than the 4WD Kakadu vehicle.

Our first stop was Edith Falls and Katherine Gorge where we had a swim and a short walk. The photo below records the incident at the start of the 'snake revenge' story - more later! Cas certainly got her own back!

A good 'Team Thomas' shot at Katherine Gorge.

Our half way to Alice stop was at a the historic Daly Waters Hotel - where the burgers were huge and everyone was dancing to country and western & rock n roll -those of us who joined in had a real laugh learning to square dance and doing the twist!

Next day was a special day for Callum 29th July 2015 - his 21st birthday. Cas and Cristy surprised him by cling wrapping all his things in his bag!

We were stopped off at the Devils Marbles which seem to defy gravity and had a wee celebration - a traditional lamington cake and some fizz.

We managed a quick swim in a beautiful hot mineral river (very like NZ!!) which was wonderful after a long day on the bus.
